Harrison Ford Joining 'Captain America 4' Opposite Anthony Mackie

Sony Pictures Classics has pre-bought rights to the drama Freud’s Last Session, starring Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins (Armageddon Time) and Emmy nominee Matthew Goode (The Crown), from Westend Films and CAA Media Finance.

Sony Pictures Classics have acquired from Westend Films all rights in North America, the Middle East, India, Eastern Europe (excluding Russia), Turkey, and worldwide airlines to “Freud’s Last Session,” starring Anthony Hopkins and Matthew Goode, the company announced on Wednesday.The film is directed by Matt Brown (“The Man Who Knew Infinity”) and written by Mark St. Germain (“The God Committee”) based on his play of the same name.The film is described as the following: “On the eve of the Second World War and the end of his life, Sigmund Freud (Hopkins) invites iconic author C.S.

“1923,” the second “Yellowstone” spin-off series after “1883,” finally has a release date. IndieWire reports that the Paramount+ drama with Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren has an official premiere date of December 18 on the streaming platform.

Harrison Ford will make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Captain America: New World Order.As reported by Deadline, the actor will take over the role of General Thaddeus Ross in the upcoming sequel, set to be released on May 3, 2024. The character was previously played by William Hurt in numerous Marvel outings, including 2008’s The Incredible Hulk and 2021’s Black Widow, before the actor’s death aged 71 in March this year.Anthony Mackie will reprise his role as Sam Wilson in Captain America: New World Order, who took up the Captain America mantle in Disney+ series The Falcon And The Winter Soldier.

For years, William Hurt was one of the familiar faces gracing various MCU projects. And it would appear, his character, General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, who debuted in 2008’s “The Incredible Hulk,” was set to continue to be a major player in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

TheWrap reported that Evans was in talks to reprise his role as Captain America in some capacity for the MCU. At the D23 Expo last month, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced the cast of “Thunderbolts,” the film that will close out MCU‘s Phase 5 in July 2024.

Timothy Dalton (Doom Patrol, Hot Fuzz) has joined the cast of the Paramount + series, 1923, Deadline hears. He will portray Donald Whitfield, a powerful, self-confident man who reeks of wealth and the lack of empathy it requires to attain it. He is intimidating and nefarious and is used to getting what he wants.

EXCLUSIVE: George Nolfi will direct Lyrical Media’s post-apocalyptic action thriller Elevation with Anthony Mackie, Morena Baccarin and Maddie Hasson set to star.
