Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy will find out the verdict of their Wagatha Christie case tomorrow, Friday 29 July, after weeks of waiting. As per The Mirror, the judgment in Vardy v Rooney will be handed down by Mrs Justice Steyn at 12 noon.The hand down will be taking place remotely, with nothing happening in court.The trail came to an end in late May, with closing arguments being revealed on 20 May.The trail comes after Rebekah's Instagram account was accused by Coleen of leaking fake stories about her in October 2019 in a now-infamous Instagram post dubbed Wagatha Christie.
Rebekah, 40, denied the allegations and is suing 36 year old Coleen for libel. Coleen and husband Wayne Rooney were absent for the closing arguments and jetted off on holiday with their four children instead.
Coleen's barrister David Sherborne started the final hearing of the seven-day long trial by apologising for her and her 36 year old husband Wayne's absence. He said: "They intended no disrespect to the court." Mr Sherborne then claimed that Rebekah "regularly and frequently" leaked information from his client's private Instagram account and explained that Jamie's wife's evidence is "entirely unreliable".
He also said that there had been a "deliberate deletion and destruction" of evidence, the court had not heard from key witnesses, including Caroline Watt or the journalists who published the alleged leaked stories, and he said Jamie, 35, had "remained silent... at least in this courtroom." Rebekah's lawyer Hugh Tomlinson went on to admit that the mum-of-five had "obviously made mistakes", one of which was "trusting someone she shouldn't have" – referring to her former agent Caroline.
