Four people have been arrested and charged in connection with various drug offences in Kilmarnock after cops vowed to take action following community concerns.
Police raided two addresses in the Newton area on a day of action on Friday, March 1.
Three men, aged 26, 27 and 62 and a woman, 47, were arrested and charged with various drug offences.
Cocaine with an estimated value in excess of £3,900 and small quantities of other Class A, B and C drugs were seized.
The crackdown comes after officers vowed to tackle the areas drug problem, with local residents alarmed of the impact drug misuse is having in the neighbourhood.
Senior officer, inspector Iain Farmer recently met with local politicians to walk around the area and discuss concerns.
Inspector Farmer said: “Police and partners will not tolerate the blight that drug misuse causes within the local community. Listening to the concerns of the residents allowed us to plan for our day of action which ended with positive searches.
“We will always look to divert those unfortunately caught in the cycle of being involved within drugs to the many agencies that offer assistance within the local area.
“We will continue to patrol the local area offering our reassurance. I encourage the local community to continue to provide us with information on those who are misusing drugs within the community through calling 101 or reaching out via our ‘Contact us’ section of our website or contact Crimestoppers where you can remain anonymous.”
