A bathroom expert has revealed that a 30p household staple could be the key to getting rid of mould from surfaces from any damage.
Mould can be unsightly and a nightmare to clean - and can even cause some health issues for the household. Data from Warm This Winter found that 29 per cent of the population in the UK have mould in their homes.
Mould is caused by excess moisture which leads to the spores growing on many surfaces - and can often occur if you have issues with dampness or if your room is poorly ventilated.
When it comes to cleaning mould, a lot of people opt for bleach as they know it will kill of the fungus quickly. According to an expert, there is a much cheaper option that can "scrub mould off without damaging surfaces", reports the Mirror.
Andy Ellis, bathroom expert at Posh.co.uk, said: "A small amount of mould around the shower can easily spread if nothing is done to clean it. Soon your walls, shower drain and even your window ledge may start to harbour the stubborn black fungus.
"It's important to be mindful about which products are going where to avoid damaging paintwork and tiles. We’ve put together a guide on how to clean different items around the bathroom with staple household items to eliminate the problem."
The expert said that using lemons could be the key to getting mould off your shower screen as it is super effective and sets you back just 30p. To remove mould with lemon, all you have to do is douse a sponge with it and scrub the screen in a circular motion.
