Cillian Murphy dedicates Oscars win to “peacemakers everywhere”

Following his Best Actor Oscar win at the 96th Academy Awards, Irish actor Cillian Murphy is reuniting with Universal Pictures, the distributor of Christopher Nolan’s Best Picture winner “Oppenheimer,” for another period drama, “Blood Runs Coal.” The starring vehicle for Murphy, reported on by Deadline, seemingly takes a page from the world of Martin Scorsese (“The Irishman,” “Killers of The Flower Moon”).

Bradley’s Blood Runs Coal: The Yablonski Murders and the Battle for the United Mine Workers of America two days before the 2024 Oscars.Murphy will reportedly star and produce the film, while the movie has yet to have a director attached to it.

Bradley’s “Blood Runs Coal: The Yablonski Murders and the Battle for the United Mine Workers of America,”with newly-minted Oscar winner Cillian Murphy attached to star and produce. Jez Butterworth (“Spectre,” “Ford v Ferrari”) and John-Henry Butterworth (“Get On Up,” “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny”) will adapt the screenplay.

Cillian Murphy is reportedly set to reprise his role as the Irish-Romani gang leader in a “Peaky Blinders” movie, according to Steven Knight, who created the hit British crime drama. “He definitely is returning for it,” Knight, 64, told Birmingham World of Murphy, 47, at the premiere of “The Town,” his new drama series for BBC. “We’re shooting it in September just down the road in Digbeth [England].”The Post has contacted reps for Murphy for comment.
