Christine Lampard issued an apology on Friday's episode of Lorraine after the ITV show made an "unforgivable" mistake regarding one of the Dancing on Ice contestant's names. The presenter, 44, stepped in for Lorraine Kelly during Friday's show and halted the episode to share an apology on behalf of ITV for Thursday's on screen error. During Thursday's episode of Lorraine,Coronation Street star Claire Sweeney - who is due to star in the latest series of Dancing on Ice, was mistaken for Steps star Claire Richards.
The upcoming series of Dancing On Ice, which will see Holly Willoughby's highly-anticipated return to TV, is set to start Sunday, January 14. On Thursday's Lorraine, the show had a special Dancing On Ice segment in which they chatted to the 2024 lineup. However, when talking to Claire, the banner on-screen mistook the star for Steps singer Claire Richards.
It read: "Claire Sweeney, Steps singer." Halting Friday's episode for a special announcement, Christine said: "Now we have to apologise to all our viewers for an unforgiveable on screen error on yesterday's show." She explained: "In our behind the scenes special with Ria, we, we, I was not part of that, mistakenly put on screen that soap legend Claire Sweeney was in fact a singer in Steps. "The internet is outraged, outraged. It is of course Claire Richards.
