‘Chicago P.D.’: Jesse Lee Soffer Reveals He Almost Made A Sneaky Cameo In Directorial Debut

“Chicago” and “Law & Order” franchise creator and producer Dick Wolf has extended his overall television deal with NBCUniversal, signing a two-year deal extension with Universal Television, meaning he will remain with the company until 2027. Previously, the procedural producer had signed a pre-pandemic pact in 2020 that promised three-season renewals for his shows.

Selome Hailu After nearly four decades at the studio under his belt, Dick Wolf has extended his overall deal at Universal Television through 2027. Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television currently have nine series on the air, including the “Law & Order” franchise, the “One Chicago” franchise and the “FBI” franchise. The news of Wolf’s continued deal comes one day after NBC’s renewals of “Chicago Fire” for Season 12, “Chicago PD” for Season 11, “Chicago Med” for Season 9, “Law & Order” for Season 23, “Law & Order: SVU” for Season 25 and “Law & Order: Organized Crime” for Season 4. And in 2022, CBS issued double-renewals for “FBI,” “FBI: Most Wanted” and “FBI: International” through the 2023-24 season.

On the heels of NBC extending Dick Wolf’s six scripted series on the network for another season, sibling Universal Television has extended Wolf’s overall deal at the studio for two additional years.

Emily Longeretta Despite the many changes in the One Chicago world, “Chicago Fire,” Chicago P.D.” and “Chicago Med” have all been renewed, NBC announced on Monday. Dick Wolf’s procedurals have been a major staple on NBC since debuting with “Chicago Fire,” a spinoff of “Law & Order: SVU,” in 2012. In the fall, the firefighter drama will air its eleventh season, while “Chicago P.D.” will air Season 11 and “Chicago Med” will air Season 9. All three shows, produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, in association with Wolf Entertainment, stream the next day on Peacock. Over the last year, the One Chicago universe has gone through a great deal of changes, both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. “Fire” co-creator and co-showrunner Derek Haas will be exiting at the end of the current season, stepping away from Wolf Entertainment. Additionally on “Fire,” Taylor Kinney is on a temporary leave of absence from the show due to a personal matter. He made his last appearance during the Feb. 22 episode.

NBC has renewed all six of its Dick Wolf-produced shows including the One Chicago franchise — Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. — and the trio of Law & Order dramas — the mothership series, Law & Order: SVU and Law & Order: Organized Crime — for the 2023-2024 season.
