With Nine Shows on the Air, Dick Wolf Extends Overall Deal at Universal Television Through 2027

EXCLUSIVE: Troian Bellisario (Pretty Little Liars) and Brandon Larracuente (The Good Doctor) are set as the leads of On Call. Originally set up at Amazon Freevee, the half-hour drama, from Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television, will stream on Amazon’s main platform, Prime Video. Amazon Studios has handed an official eight-episode order to the project, co-created by Tim Walsh and Elliot Wolf, which marks Wolf Entertainment’s first streaming series and its 10th current scripted series overall.

Indian streamer SonyLIV has ordered two new series, social drama Kafas and suspense thriller 36 Days, from production powerhouse Applause Entertainment, along with four returning shows.

Alonso previously won Cannes’ Un Certain Regard with his 2014 movie “Jauja.” Also slated for Cannes Premiere is Valerie Donzelli’s drama “L’Amour et les forets.”

The CW has always had a thing or two for an international acquisition and it seems that this strategy is continuing under new ownership.

Referring to an S&M scene in the show, in which a naked Mr. Pumblechook (played by Matt Berry) is seen being whipped by housewife-turned-dominatrix Mrs. Gargery (played by Hayley Squires), Moore said that Knight “believes absolutely everything [in the show] comes from what was alluded to” by Dickens in the novel. Moore, speaking Thursday to the Broadcasting Press Guild in London, added that “you have to really understanding what [Dickens] would have felt able to write about [in the Victorian era] and read between the lines.”

In the fall, the firefighter drama will air its eleventh season, while “Chicago P.D.” will air Season 11 and “Chicago Med” will air Season 9. All three shows, produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, in association with Wolf Entertainment, stream the next day on Peacock. Over the last year, the One Chicago universe has gone through a great deal of changes, both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. “Fire” co-creator and co-showrunner Derek Haas will be exiting at the end of the current season, stepping away from Wolf Entertainment. Additionally on “Fire,” Taylor Kinney is on a temporary leave of absence from the show due to a personal matter. He made his last appearance during the Feb. 22 episode.
