Ellise Shafer Charli XCX has dropped two new singles, “Club Classics” and “B2b,” from her upcoming sixth album “Brat.” The avant-pop singer also revealed the official release date for “Brat” — June 7 — alongside the record’s 15-song tracklist. With artwork that appears to feature the back of fiancé and the 1975 drummer George Daniel, “Club Classics” and “B2b” are a pair of rave-ready bangers.
On “Club Classics,” Charli delivers her signature speak-singing over bouncy production, giving Daniel a shout out as well as the late artist Sophie: “Yeah I wanna dance to me/ I wanna dance to A.G./ I wanna dance with George/ I wanna dance to Sophie.” “B2b” is more melodic, with a trance-like beat that begs to be played in a sweaty dancehall. The new singles follow the release of “Von Dutch,” Charli’s first offering from this album cycle.
She then dropped a remix of the song featuring a satisfyingly blood-curdling scream from Addison Rae and additional production from longtime collaborator A.G. Cook.
The forthcoming “Brat” kicks off with a song titled “360” and ends with one called “365,” and includes intriguing track names like “I Might Say Something Stupid,” “Girl, So Confusing,” “Apple” and “Mean Girls.” Before “Brat,” Charli was in her “Barbie” era, as she contributed the song “Speed Drive” to the best picture-nominated film starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. “Brat” is the follow-up to 2022’s “Crash.” See the full “Brat” tracklist below.
