Dr Kaye said: “Ideally, you would arrange it for somewhere in the middle of your cycle or towards the end of your cycle.” The test may cause pain that is similar to menstrual cramps, but this won’t last longer than 30 seconds. Wear comfy clothes It is important to feel relaxed when the doctor or nurse is taking the test - so make sure you’re comfortable. Dr Kaye recommends: “Maybe you want to wear a skirt, so that we can lift that up and you still feel more covered - as opposed to taking off leggings or jeans.” Request a woman doctor or nurse You may feel more comfortable with a female doctor or nurse, if this is the case then you can ask for one.
