Catherine Agbaje has opened up about the distressing experiences she faced following her appearance on Love Island 2023. Instead of a warm reception after leaving the villa, she encountered a barrage of hate messages and even death threats from online trolls, some of whom went to the extent of targeting her family to reach her. Amid the twists and turns of the show, one event in particular caught the audience's attention – Catherine's decision to bring Elom Ahlijah-Wilson back to the main villa.This action left her former partner Scott Van Der Sluis's single and left many viewers less than impressed.
In the aftermath Elom and Catherine soon split, but recent events suggest that her relationship with Scott might be on the mend. During an appearance on The SHiiKANE Pod, Catherine provided a candid account of the aftermath of Love Island. She spoke of enduring "panic attacks" and a period of not eating for several days.
She shared: “It was hard. Even talking about it makes me upset. I didn’t eat for about three or four days, I was so weak.
I had panic attacks. I had so much stuff. I received death threats, it was horrible.” Even when Catherine stayed off of social media, trolls would target her family members to get through to her.
Receiving support from the show to deal with all the hate, Catherine added: “It was very hard for me but now I’m good. When you come out and you know what’s actually gone on and see how it’s been twisted and turned and now as a result people hate you want to see you die.
