The cast of a highly successful show at The Fullarton in Castle Douglas have donated profits from a special calendar to charity.
A musical production of Calendar Girls – inspired by the very first “alternative” Women’s Institute – was a huge hit.
The cast also posed, discreetly, for their own calendar called “in their natural environment”, the generosity of the public seeing the fantastic sum of £1,050 raised.
The money was shared between Marie Curie Cancer Care, Cancer Research UK and Macmillan Cancer Support – all of which are very active charities in Dumfries and Galloway.
The cheques were recently presented by the cast to Sheila Maddison, representing Cancer Research UK and Isobel Riddick, representing Macmillan Cancer Support. A cheque is also going to Marie Curie Cancer Care.
One critic from the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) said of the cast: “Each one of them told their own story whilst showing the deep friendship that brings people together in support of each other in a small community.”
Proof of that is demonstrated by the donations which help support patients and their families as they face cancer together.

that her sex tape—filmed when she was 19 and her boyfriend Rick Solomon was 33, by the way—had been leaked and distributed without her consent. But that didn't stop Pink from making fun of it in the video for her 2006 song, “Stupid Girls.” (The song title is context enough, right?) Well now, in a passage from her new book, Paris: The Memoir, Hilton is publicly taking the singer to task for mocking what essentially boils down to analog revenge porn. After describing how Solomon (allegedly) pressured her into filming the sexual encounter and then profited from the tape's release, Hilton's book details the relentless public shaming that followed.

Naman Ramachandran Revenues at Bertelsmann’s Luxembourg-based RTL Group, a media giant which owns Fremantle, climbed 9% to a record €7.2 billion ($7.6 billion) for the financial year 2022. However, the company’s EBITA (earnings before interest, taxes and amortization) slid 6% to €1.08 billion, down from €1.15 billion in 2021. RTL attributes this to higher streaming start-up losses and lower TV advertising revenue at RTL Deutschland, and the exits of RTL Belgium and Groupe M6. These effects were partly offset by record adjusted EBITA contributions from RTL Nederland and Fremantle, RTL said. The RTL Group has interests in 56 television channels, nine streaming services and 36 radio stations. The group’s content business, Fremantle, is one of the world’s largest creators, producers and distributors of scripted and unscripted content, including “American Idol,” “Britain’s Got Talent” and “The X Factor.”
