Carry On star David Kernan dies aged 85 as tributes pour in

Actor David Kernan, known for his roles in Carry On Abroad and Up the Chastity Belt, has sadly passed away at the age of 85, his representatives confirmed. They shared the heartbreaking news on social media, writing: "It is with the heaviest of hearts to announce that dear David has passed away peacefully.
In this time of such sadness, we shall think of the wonderful man he was, and the truly fantastic career that he had on stage, and on screen." Fans have been sharing their tributes online, with one writing: "So sad to her that the talented #DavidKernan has passed away. He will be making sweet music with the fabulous #StephenSondheim and from #CarryOnAbroad to his musical theatre work Mr Kernan was a class act." Another shared: "My condolences.
I saw Side by Side by Sondheim several times in 1976, all those years ago. David was terrific." A third fan said: "Sending my condolences, remembering him for Sondheim of course, but also the masterful Cole Porter review at the Vaudeville in the 1990s." David starred as Private Frederick Hitch in the famous 1964 movie 'Zulu', which showed a big battle between British soldiers and Zulu warriors in 1879, with Sir Michael Caine in a top role.
He also had a cool part in 'The Avengers' TV show, acting alongside stars Patrick Macnee and Dame Diana Rigg. For his performances on stage, David was up for a Tony Award in 1977 because he was amazing in 'Side by Side by Sondheim' on Broadway.
