Carol Wright, 63, has been praised by her famous children for completing the London Marathon. Carol is the mum of The Only Way Is Essex stars Mark, 36, and Jess Wright, 37, as well as Natalya and Josh, who recently welcomed his second child. Carol was joined by her husband Mark Senior, 67, for the marathon, but had to complete the last 15 miles on her own as Mark Senior sustained an injury.
Natalya, 22, shared a video of her mum walking along as she gushed over how proud of her she was. “That’s my hero,” she wrote next to the clip. “She carried on for 15 miles on her own as my dad couldn’t carry on due to an injury.
I am so so proud of you mum”. Jess – who brought along son Presley – to watch also hailed her mum as a hero. Other family members were also on hand to offer their support – Mark’s actress wife Michelle Keegan included.
While Carol and Mark Senior walked the marathon, sons Mark and Josh, 33, ran it and hoped to achieve their goal time of completing the course in under three hours and 30 minutes. Mark and Josh didn’t meet the time, but still managed to complete the marathon in an impressive three hours and 36 minutes – missing out on their target by a just a few minutes. Snaps of Carol saw the mum-of-four making her way towards to finish line on Sunday, 23 April, to be greeted by her loving family.
In one snap, the Wrights could be seen laughing as Jess and Natalya held onto their mum’s arms. A second photo saw the whole family come together, grandchildren and all, as they smiled for the cameras. Speaking ahead of the run, Carol joked to OK! that she’d be happy to finish the run in 24 hours.
