The price of just about everything has increased in recent times, with car insurance an expensive outgoing for many.
The essential expense is hugely important to keep you and other road users safe as well as law abiding. However, there are ways to keep costs down a little, with an insurance expert sharing some hints and tips to decrease the price of your policy when you need to renew.
Considering this, Chris Lear, Managing Director of insurance broker One Sure Insurance has shared five hacks you may want to consider when looking for your next car insurance policy. Ranging from keeping your named drivers accurate to being organised and sorting out your new deal in advance, the tips could save you some well needed cash.
If you are renewing your car insurance it can work cheaper to purchase ahead of time, instead of waiting until the last minute to take out a new policy.
This is because insurance providers often consider those who sort out their new policy before their old one runs out to be more organised and risk averse. This means they may view them as less likely to be involved in an accident, so offer lower rates.
Your current provider will typically send you an email reminder a month before your car insurance is up for renewal, however the best deals will be available around three weeks before your renewal date. Insurance policies then tend to get more expensive, the closer it gets to your renewal date.
However, the expert advises avoiding purchasing car insurance more than a month before your renewal date as this may mean you miss out on cheaper polices from insurers who are not willing to provide quotes that far in advance.
