Nine arrests have been made and a cannabis farm has been uncovered as part of a major police crackdown day in Bolton.
Hundreds of officers are working on a huge operation in the borough today (June 30) in a bid to target the criminals 'who cause the most harm' in the community. Early morning raids were carried out with officers bursting through doors before dawn.
So far, nine people have been arrested as part of Operation Avro. Some of these arrests stemmed from warrants on properties on Pole Street in Tonge Moor and on Chorley Old Road, police said.

In May, samurai swords were seized and a £500,000 cannabis farm was busted as officers swooped on Bury. In April, a 'record-breaking' 63 arrests were made after GMP carried out their monthly crime 'blitz' in Rochdale.
This morning, GMP's acting district commander for Bolton, Steph Parker, said: "Operation Avro is an opportunity for us to demonstrate our commitment to the people of Bolton. We are listening to your concerns and we are acting on it. Over the next 24 hours, you will see multiple drug and evidence warrants being executed across the town.
"Speeding and dangerous drivers will be identified and targeted by us and dealt with appropriately. We will also take action on any person using any motor vehicle illegally or in an anti-social manner.

writing for MSNBC’s ReidOutBlog, Ja’han Jones outlined how the Christian Right is facing renewed moral scrutiny and a crisis of “credibility” — at exactly the moment they have captured the Supreme Court and have begun striking down rights and protections they have long declared to be counter to moral society.Specifically, he argued, the latest rash of sex abuse allegations against conservative Christian institutions puts their moral authority on the line. The Catholic Church has long faced criticism for overlooking and shielding priests accused of molesting children — but now, noted Jones, other denominations are coming under scrutiny for similar alleged misconduct.“First, there’s the scandal still unfolding at Agapè Boarding School, a Christian facility for young men in Missouri that’s facing a slew of child abuse allegations. Agapè pitches guardians on its ability to ‘biblically teach your child the importance of submission to authority and the joys of being an obedient law-abiding citizen,'” wrote Jones.
