A new royal book has revealed the mischievous nickname allegedly given to Camilla before she became the Queen. Royal biographer Robert Hardman chronicles the King’s first year on the throne as successor to the longest-reigning monarch in British history in his biography, Charles III: New King, New Court.
The author claims that before Camilla became a royal, her family gave her the nickname “Lorraine” — a play on "la reine," which is French for “the queen.” "She always saw the funny side of that — even if Prince Charles did not,” said a friend. Buckingham Palace has not commented on any of the claims made in the book, which will be published on Thursday and contains a number of revelations from inside the royal family.
One of the most explosive claims made in the book is that Queen Elizabeth was "angry” that Harry and Meghan named their daughter Lilibet. The biography claims a member of staff said that Queen Elizabeth was "as angry as I'd ever seen her" after the Sussexes' comments following Lilibet's birth in June 2021.
Hardman wrote: "One privately recalled that Elizabeth II had been 'as angry as I'd ever seen her' in 2021 after the Sussexes announced that she had given them her blessing to call their baby daughter 'Lilibet', the Queen's childhood nickname." He added: "The couple subsequently fired off warnings of legal action against anyone who dared to suggest otherwise, as the BBC had done. However, when the Sussexes tried to co-opt the Palace into propping up their version of events, they were rebuffed.” Harry and Meghan have both insisted that they had the Queen's blessing to use the name, however, reports suggested this was not the case.

Leo Barraclough International Features Editor Chinese filmmaker Lin Jianjie‘s debut feature “Brief History of a Family,” which is being sold by Films Boutique, has debuted its trailer (below), following its world premiere in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition section of the Sundance Film Festival. The film, which will make its European premiere in the Panorama program of the Berlin Film Festival, was received warmly by Variety critic Carlos Aguilar. In the review, Aguilar says the suspenseful drama was “elevated by its consistent visual inventiveness.” He adds that although at first it seems to be the story of a “cunning infiltrator wreaking havoc in an unsuspecting household,” it then “reveals itself as a tale of wish fulfillment for everyone involved.” Aguilar says that it is this approach which “turns Lin’s debut into an engrossing brain-tickler.” The drama is put in motion by an incident at the high school attended by Wei, an outgoing only son from a middle-class family, and Shuo, his quiet, perceptive classmate.
Within the Royal Family there are several specific rules which explain who is entitled to hold a prince or princess title. These date from Letters Patent by King George V in 1917, where he wrote that all the children of the sovereign, the male-line grandchildren and the Prince of Wales’s eldest son were all allowed to hold a princely style.
