People have welcomed plans for a new Irish bar in Sale, after being asked to object by one furious local on social media - who was instead told to 'buy some earplugs'.
Fibber Magee’s, on Northenden Road, has applied through Trafford Council for live music and the selling of alcohol until 11pm Sunday to Thursday and 1am on Fridays and Saturdays. It will open up at the former Greggs site.
The traditional micropub has already been serving the expat community in Dubai for almost 30 years and is known for offering 'the best Guinness in town'.

The venue, that has announced on its website it is opening in Sale Moor in April this year, has applied for a live music licence, as well as for 'late night refreshments', the supply of alcohol and for opening hours until 1am on Friday and Saturday.
One furious local posted in a Facebook group, and wrote: "I urge people to object. Unless they can remove the late license. There are flats in the immediate area. Including above it and nothing is open that late in the area."
But it quickly backfired as residents were quick to show their support for the new Irish bar in the comments, suggesting it would 'bring some life' to the area. One person instead suggested they 'buy some earplugs'.
"Should be all for this opening up and bring some well needed life into the area," one person wrote as another said: "Lovely to see something for people to do being proposed, good luck to them!"
Another commented: "I think it's great to see Sale Moor developing like this, bring it on," as a fourth wrote: "Should be a good craic if run properly. We need more in Sale than just restaurants and coffee shops! Good luck."
