Brooke Shields Opens up About the Dark Side of Fame in New Documentary

Pretty Baby, Brooke Shields recounts her career and shares what her life looked like when the cameras stopped rolling. Shields has been in front of the camera since she was 11 months old, and has spent her entire life under watchful eyes. Her career as a supermodel and actress is impressive (add a to the list), but fame took a toll on Shields behind closed doors. In a teaser for the documentary released on March 1, the 57-year-old says, “I spent my life owing people things and doing whatever they wanted, and finally I asked myself, 'Who will I be if I don't allow that anymore?'” Shields landed her breakout role in Pretty Baby, in which she starred as a sex worker's 12-year-old daughter that lost her innocence to the industry.
Soon following Pretty Baby was The Blue Lagoon, a role that followed Shields throughout the rest of her career. At 14, she was expected to perform , even when a body double was introduced for racier scenes.
