Former Love Island star Marcel Somerville has revealed that ITV bosses may have told Jacques O'Neill to leave the show after his behaviour became aggressive. Jacques sensationally quit Love Island on Monday 11 July, saying that he wanted to "feel like himself again", following a breakdown in his relationship with fellow contestant, Paige Thorne, 24. Marcel, who rose to fame with garage group Blazin' Squad, commented on Jacques' shocking departure, alluding to the idea that Love Island bosses may have pushed Jacques to quit the show.
Speaking to the Daily Star, Marcel said: "Jacques has just left for his own mental wellbeing because honestly, that place can mess with your mind. "Because you're in there going 'this isn't who I am, this isn't how I usually act'. Mentally, you're breaking yourself down and sometimes people do need to leave for their own good.
"I was lucky to have talked myself around and get myself into a good mindset, maybe because I was older..." Speaking about whether or not Marcel believed that Jacques left the show of his own accord, he said: "I can't talk for producers but I do feel like if someone is bringing certain energy and vibe to the show the producers are more likely to be more like say 'you know what, obviously you aren't having the best time here if you do want to leave then we 100% support it'. And they kind of give them the backing to leave. "Because I was watching the show and I thought he [Jacques] is losing his head when he was being aggressive to a lot of other contestants.
