Love Island star Jacques' mum says she moved out of home after death threats

The mum of Jacques O’Neill has spoken out about receiving death threats which led to her moving out of her home following her son appearing on Love Island. Jacques, 23, made the dramatic decision to quit the show soon after his actions at Casa Amor where he kissed bombshell Cheyanne, which left him and the girl he was coupled up with, Paige Thorne on the rocks. Following Jacques’ turbulent time on the ITV2 dating show, his mother, Janet Wright, has revealed she received death threats and didn’t feel safe on her own at home.
"During the first two weeks Jacques was so funny, I think everybody loved him,” she told The Sun. She continued: "Then it started to change. I started to get horrible private messages on Facebook, people were saying they wished my son and I were dead, it was awful.
"I just didn't get why people have to message such nasty comments.The messages really hurt, strangers were saying to me that I was a bad mother and a bad parent. It was awful, especially as I brought him up by myself." The abuse she received online led Janet, 60, to make the decision to temporarily move out of her home. She said: “I had to go and stay with my sister for a week and a half because of the abuse I got.
"I was relieved when he finally left the villa as I couldn't watch it live. I had to get my sister to text me every night to say if it was OK to watch. I knew how much it was upsetting me." Following his departure earlier this week, Jacques has also opened up about his decision to leave admitting he feared he would “get physical”.
