Boris Johnson has met President Volodymyr Zelensky in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv. The Ukrainian embassy in London tweeted a picture of the two leaders meeting face to face.
A No 10 spokesperson said the meeting was arranged in a 'show of solidarity' for Ukraine. They added that the Prime Minister was using the unannounced visit to set out a new package of financial and military aid.
They said: "The Prime Minister has travelled to Ukraine to meet President Zelensky in person, in a show of solidarity with the Ukrainian people. They will discuss the UK's long term support to Ukraine and the PM will set out a new package of financial and military aid."

This comes after Mr Johnson announced that the UK would be sending a fresh package of 'high-grade' military equipment to Ukraine after the 'unconscionable bombing' of refugees at a crowded railway station. The £100 million of kit will include more Starstreak anti-aircraft missiles, anti-tank weapons and 'precision munitions' such as drones capable of loitering in the sky until directed to their target.
Speaking at a Downing Street press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, the Prime Minister warned Russia will not escape punishment after the attack. He said: "I know that Britain and Germany share exactly the same sense of horror and revulsion at the brutality unleashed including the unconscionable bombing of refugees fleeing their homes this morning.
"It is a war crime indiscriminately to attack civilians, and Russia's war crimes in Ukraine will not go unnoticed or unpunished."
