Bolton Steam Museum is inviting enthusiasts and families alike to witness a showcase of steam engines - with a glimpse into the industrial heritage of the North of England.
Volunteers at the Bolton Steam Museum on Mornington Road have rescued and restored 30 old stationary steam engines, which once powered the cotton and woollen mills of the North of England with five built in Bolton. Most of the engines are over 100 years old - with their oldest standing at 180 years old.
The majority of the steam engines will be running on the 28 December and the 29 December from 10.00 am to 4.00pm.
The museum is normally closed at other times, except for volunteers' working days, Wednesdays & Sundays: 11.00 am - 3.00 pm when visitors are welcome and a few engines can be run using electric motors.
The showing is a free admission - you can find the Bolton Steam Museum on Mornington Road, Bolton BL1 4EU.
