A young and energetic lurcher is looking for a place to call home after he was given up to a rescue centre as a puppy. Gino arrived in the care of Manchester Dogs Home in May 2021, but has had barely any interest from adopters.
Volunteers at the kennels say he arrived ‘through no fault of his own’ and has bags of character - but just needs someone to share his fun-loving personality with. The gorgeous dog’s most striking feature is his piercing blue eyes, as according to dog DNA testing site Wisdom Panel, only around five per cent of dogs have blue eyes.

Having spent almost his whole life in kennels, staff who care for him are stunned he’s yet to find a family. A spokesperson for Manchester Dogs Home said: “Gino has now been with us for a year, and we have yet to have any suitable applicants, though he hasn't had very many at all - you could probably count them on one hand.
“He really is a good looking boy and we can't understand the reason as to why he hasn't found someone yet.”
Gino is described as a typical lurcher youngster - ‘sprightly and bouncy’ and loves to jump up a lot. He's a friendly boy but often finds it hard to contain his enthusiasm, so any children in the home would need to be 14 or older.
The rescue added: “Gino may forget his manners when meeting you for the first time. He can be a bit full on and likes to exercise his bravado but will settle eventually or when you give him a treat.
“This can be the same when meeting other dogs, with some he can happily walk with and others he will bark at. For this reason he will need to be the only dog in the house.”
Being a lurcher this also means he cannot be rehomed with cats
