This Morning editor Martin Frizell was involved in an incredibly bizarre moment during quizzing over the ITV daytime TV show today, Monday, June 5, as a reporter fired a question outside his home. As Martin emerged from his property in London, a Sky News journalist was waiting to ask him whether This Morning had a "toxic work environment".
In response to the question surrounding recent reports from former stars at the network and sources alike, which came ahead of 42 year old Holly Willoughby's return to the sofa this morning, 64 year old Martin fired one back of his own. Changing the subject in a move apparently attempting to dodge the topic of work entirely, Martin instead suggested that aubergines were toxic.
Referring to the deep purple root vegetable, which is often a substitute for meat in vegetarian meals, the ITV editor appeared stressed as he furrowed his brow in response. Shaking his head and putting his hands through his hair, Martin replied: "I'll tell you what's toxic and I've always found it toxic.
Aubergine. "Do you like aubergine? Do you? Do you like aubergine because I don't like aubergine.
"It's just a personal thing," the editor, who is married to ITV presenter Fiona Phillips, added. The moment was filmed by Sky News, and in response to the strange approach to questioning, MP and member of the culture, media and sport committee, John Nicolson, slammed Martin's approach. "This is a deeply inappropriate and disrespectful way to respond to questions about safeguarding vulnerable staff and bullying in the workplace at IT," he tweeted. This Morning editor Martin's unusual comments came only two hours before Holly shared a statement addressing her former co-host and best friend Phillip Schofield's departure
