A tearful Holly Willoughby admitted she feels 'shaken, troubled and let down' by Phillip Schofield in an emotional statement on This Morning. On Monday, she made her return to the show after an intense few weeks that saw her former co-host and best pal, Phillip Schofield leave the show and admit to an affair with a male colleague. The fallout has resulted in intense scrutiny for Phillip, Holly, and This Morning, as the show's culture has been branded "toxic" and some people have even questioned Holly's validity to continue as presenter.
After taking an extended absence following 61 year old Phillip's departure, Holly, 42, was back on the show sofa on Monday 5 June, where she has directly addressed the furore surrounding Phillip. The star had clearly steeled herself for the difficult episode, as she was on the verge of tears during her pre-prepared statement. Holly said she felt “shaken, troubled, let down and worried” as leaned on her co-presenter Josie Gibson for support.
"We gave our love and support to someone who was not telling the truth,” she said, referring to Phillip's lies about his affair. Holly, who looked beautiful in a white dress, thanked Josie for being there, before she looked directly at the camera and asked the viewers at home: ""Firstly, are you OK?" She went on to say: "It feels very strange indeed, sitting here without Phil, and I imagine that you have all been feeling a lot like I have - shaken, troubled, let down.
"Worried for the wellbeing of people on all sides of what's been going on, and full of questions." Holly began to talk about Phil in third person, as she did not mention his name in the rest of the statement. She continued: "You, me, and all of us at This Morning gave our love and support
