Former Big Brother contested Liam McGough has shared how becoming a celebrity overnight changed his life - and not in a good way.The TV personality, who finished third in series 8 and won £100,000 in the process, told ChronicleLive why he's much happier now that he's looking after trees in The Royal Parks and for five-star New York hotels, rather than making easy money by simply turning up to a nightclub and wave. It seems the 35 year old's days of hectic TV appearances and wild nights out are over after his overnight success at the tender age of 22. From making a million pounds and feelings of loneliness to reportedly dating TV star Emily Attack, let's take a look at Liam's life as it is now...
Liam, who was born and raised in Lanchester, County Durham, entered the Big Brother house when he was 22 and ended up finishing third overall. He jumped at the chance to "go on an adventure". "I'm from a little village, it's not exactly full of nightclubs and that sort of thing", Liam, now 35, he said.
"It was my chance to see behind the curtain, to see what happens in TV land and I had a great time on that show with a great bunch of people who I'm still friends with now." He left the house as hot property, tripping over offers from magazines and agencies to make piles of cash by going out four or five nights a week and walk past the waiting cameras. Fame became 'soulless' What started out as a mad adventure slowly turned into a depressing cycle, Liam explained. "I had people willing to pay me £5,000 to turn up to a nightclub and wave, maybe DJ a little bit or shake some hands", he said.
