Britain's Got Talent semi-finalist Cammy Barnes sent shivers down the spines of passers by in Glasgow on Thursday afternoon with a surprise performance of his new single. The Scots star gave an emotional rendition of Bonnie's Song on the steps of the Royal Concert Hall, supported by the award-winning Rock Choir.
The Fife-born singer had Scottish viewers of the ITV show in an uproar when he narrowly missed out on a place in the final despite blowing audiences at home away. But he has now made a huge comeback with his new hit inspired by his baby daughter, Bonnie.
Cammy spoke on the show of how tot Bonnie has inspired him to chase his dreams. The song, which recently got No.1 on iTunes, explores the ups and downs of early fatherhood and the unmissable milestones while the new single and video is an ode to the eight-month-old.
Speaking of the performance Cammy said: “Ever since I saw the Rock Choir perform at Murrayfield I’ve wanted to sing with them! I love the concept and their energy! It was great fun, an incredible experience and very special seeing people in the crowd singing along.”
Cammy, who counts Scots ITV host Lorraine Kelly among his fanbase, is now preparing to embark on a UK tour.
Beginning on September 8 in London at The Courtyard Theatre, his gig will be music to the ears of followers including TV favourite Lorraine, who praised the singer for using his natural Scottish accent when he appeared on her daytime show back in May.
On Saturday, December 9, Cammy will also appear for a special performance at Hoolie At The Hydro, where he’ll play Bonnie’s Song, as well as previous hits including From Now On, Chasing Love, and Beauty In These Streets.
