Addie Morfoot Contributor Ken Burns attended the 29th annual Nantucket Film Festival, which concludes Sunday, to give audiences a glimpse of his latest PBS documentary “Leonardo da Vinci.” The two-part, four-hour doc — directed by Burns, his daughter Sarah Burns and his son-in-law David McMahon — explores the life and work of the 15th-century polymath. “Leonardo da Vinci,” which begins airing in November, marks the first project Burns has directed that unfolds entirely outside the continental United States.

Nina Dobrev is willing to go back to her television roots.Since departing from “The Vampire Diaries” in 2015, Dobrev has taken mostly movie roles. There exists a moment, perhaps several, in director Sandi DuBowki’s documentary “Sabbath Queen” where shaky attempts to solidify focus on one subject as numerous struggles for screentime become blindingly apparent and the project threatens to spiral out of control. That’s not to say there isn’t a compelling narrative throughout, only that there are too many, and in such a chaotic effort, topics become somewhat diluted to varying degrees, and meaningful quotes from any of the frequent talking heads start to lose their impact.
