Ben Affleck is set to direct Matt Damon in a new thriller film called Animals.The two, who are known for their long friendship and writing partnership that resulted in an Oscar win for Good Will Hunting in 1997, have worked together several times in the past – including on The Last Duel and last year with Air.Now, the two will work together again on the new thriller film, which is set to centre around a kidnapping plot. No more plot details have yet been shared about the project.Affleck will direct the film, with the the script written by Connor McIntyre.

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon got Artists Equity off to a strong start last year with “Air.” Now the duo’s long creative partnership continues with “Animals,” a crime thriller with Affleck set to direct and Damon starring. Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are collaborating yet again!

Following the success of Air, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are reuniting again on the kidnapping thriller Animals, with Damon starring and Affleck directing. Connor McIntyre penned the script with revisions by Billy Ray. The film will be produced by Affleck, Damon and Dani Bernfeld of Artists Equity and Brad Weston and Collin Creighton of MakeReady, who developed the project in partnership with Fifth Season.

Berlin Film Festival is unveiling its full competition lineup. Berlin’s previously announced opener is Ireland-set drama “Small Things Like These” starring “Oppenheimer’s” Cillian Murphy and directed by Tim Mielants (“Peaky Blinders”).

Cillian Murphy will open the Berlin International Film Festival this year.Small Things Like These, directed by Peaky Blinders’ Tim Mielants, is based on the 2021 book by Irish author, Claire Keegan, and the screenplay has been written by Enda Walsh.The Oppenheimer star plays a devoted father and coal merchant named Bill Furlong. Set in 1980s Ireland, he discovers unsettling truths about the Magdalene Laundries, which were dreadful asylums run by the Roman Catholic church, said to house “fallen women”, mainly sex workers.The cast includes Belfast‘s Ciaran Hinds, Emily Watson (Chernobyl), Game Of Thrones’ Michelle Fairley, and Irish actor, Eileen Walsh, who also starred in a 2002 movie about the infamous asylums, titled The Magdalene Sisters.Murphy produced the film with Alan Moloney through their company, Big Things Films, alongside Catherine Magee.
