Bel Powley is opening up about her earlier experiences in Hollywood and the #MeToo movement.
The 31-year-old A Small Light actress recalled a time in her early 20s that she was sexually harassed on the set of a project in a new interview.
She spoke about how the industry changed after the #MeToo movement highlighted inappropriate behavior in the industry. Bel also opened up about a time when she had a very good experience onset.

“I’ve had someone grab my arse and basically touch me inappropriately before,” she said during an interview with The Independent. She added that she was “too scared to say anything at the time,” explaining that it was a senior crewmember on a project.
“I was too scared to rock the boat,” Bel explained. “I just avoided that person and it was fine, but what really has changed post-MeToo is you just know that you’re protected.”
She continued, highlighting the importance of the movement: “At the beginning of MeToo it was weird. For a while it was like, I feel protected because men are just f-cking scared – which was fine too – but now everything’s settled into itself. People have learnt, and it’s like there’s a new code of conduct.”
While she didn’t name the crewmember who she said behaved inappropriately, Bel did highlight a project where she felt safe on set – 2015′s The Diary of a Teenage Girl. In comparison, other projects didn’t always come with the same sense of security.
“I did have a couple of bad ones, where everyone’s too awkward to ask if you’re gonna take your clothes off, and you don’t have it written up properly in the contract,” she shared. “It’s low-budget, indie, guerilla-style filming. You’re outside, and suddenly it’s the scene
