Giovanni Pernice's family have appeared to voice their support for the Strictly star, following 'abuse' claims from previous dancing partners during his time on the show.
It comes as the 33-year-old Italian professional dancer quit Strictly Come Dancing after nine years on the programme. The BBC was reportedly "very keen" for him to stay, despite the ongoing controversy surrounding his alleged strict training style.
Giovanni's previous dance partners, including Amanda Abbington, who appeared on the most recent series with him, have spoken out about their experiences. A leaked internal memo didn't feature Giovanni's name among this year's roster of professional dancers, the Mirror reports.
It first sparked concerns he would not be returning to the show. Giovanni is reportedly facing legal action from three former Strictly partners following the allegations, while BBC bosses are said to have launched their own internal investigation.
Giovanni broke his silence with a statement, denying any suggestions of "abusive or threatning behaviour" as it has now been revealed a family friend has come forward to rush to his defence.
They explained his "typical Italian family" have thrown their support fully behind the dancer. Speaking to MailOnline, they said: "They are the typical Italian family and stick together through thick and thin, they are his biggest fans and they will not have a bad word said about him."
