Strictly Come Dancing's Amy Dowden has said she is 'finding it hard' as she reflects on the year and her cancer diagnosis. The professional dancer, who couldn't take part in this year's series because of her treatment, said she feels she has been “robbed” of the 2023 she had planned for due to her illness.
The 33-year-old has had a mastectomy, chemotherapy and fertility treatment throughout this year. In an emotional post on social media she said she is looking forward to being “fit and healthy” in 2024 and hopes to win the celebrity dance competition’s Glitterball trophy next year.
Amy, who joined Strictly in 2017, announced her cancer diagnosis in May after finding a lump in her breast in April, the day before going to the Maldives on her honeymoon. Addressing her fans, she said was "actually finding it hard looking at others post of the past year" and felt "robbed of the year I had planned".

"Reflecting for me makes me upset and angry," she said, but added that she was going to try and take time to "remember all the good times". Looking back at her year, she said: “Experienced rock bottom, felt I lost my identity and dancing BUT became a stronger, braver person who I’m taking forward with me to 2024."
She added: “For those struggling to reflect today remember it’s ok. I feel much better after a little cry this morning and blessed to be celebrating with friends round tonight the GOOD BYE to 2023! Sending love and hugs to those that need it! (And please) as it’s the last day of 2023 why not
