A BBC iPlayer app is set to shut down for good tomorrow, with users on some devices blocked from watching shows.
The BBC announced back in February that it was discontinuing one of its television-viewing apps, with the block coming into full effect from Monday, April 8. This significant change means the iPlayer service designed for PCs will cease to function and it seems unlikely that it will ever be reinstated.
The BBC said in a post on its website: "We have made the difficult decision to close the BBC iPlayer Downloads application for PC and Mac, due to the low number of people using it and the cost required to keep it going."

The shutdown has been gradually implemented over the past few months, with the BBC closing the app down in stages. In February, the BBC prevented any new users from installing the PC app onto their devices.
Then, last month, users were barred from watching new content or downloading shows onto their hard drives, reports the Mirror.
Now the final shutdown is happening, with all existing downloads being blocked from playback and the app closing permanently. It's important to note that this won't prevent PC users from watching shows via their web browsers - it's just the app that won't work.
It also doesn't affect the BBC's mobile apps. The BBC confirmed: "This does not affect downloads on the BBC iPlayer mobile or tablet apps, and viewers can continue to stream programmes on BBC iPlayer on their PCs and Macs."
The devices affected by the change are:
If you have content downloaded onto your PC that you want to watch, you need to binge-watch it before tomorrow as anything downloaded simply won't work.
