Barry Robson refuses to go into Slobodan Rubezic mistakes as Aberdeen FC boss sets stars Rangers challenge

Barry Robson has told his Aberdeen stars they are playing for Viaplay Cup Final places.
The Dons host Kilmarnock, Hearts and Eintracht Frankfurt at Pittodrie and manager Robson insists the performances in these games will have a major bearing on who starts against Rangers at Hampden on December 17. The emphasis over the next two leagues games is getting points on the board and the Reds back in the fight for the European places. Robson said: “Everybody is competing for places in the cup final so the focus will be on Killie. The players picked have to perform and the better they perform the better their chances are of playing in the Final.”
Slobodan Rubezic, who will have a domestic suspension kicking in for the Livingston game, has come under the microscope for some recent errors. Robson has defended him and insisted the Montenegro international has a big future ahead of him. Robson stated: “He’s a talented boy. He’s a young player who needs to do his learning but he’s a great kid. He’ll have a really bright future in the game just like a few other players we’ve got here.
“As a young player everybody makes mistakes but it’s not something I want to go into. We speak to him and we have other young players who make mistakes. We have older ones as well, but he’s a terrific kid.”
Aberdeen’s defence has only kept a handful of clean sheets this season but Robson and his coaching team have been working hard to close the back door. The manager claimed: “It’s a whole new defence as we lost Ross McCrorie, Liam Scales and Mattie Pollock.
“We had to rebuild that and it’s not ideal when you have to replace that amount. It took us until the end of the window to get everyone in and they have actually performed really well.
