Baroness announce new album ‘Stone’, share first single, US tour dates

Jem Aswad Executive Editor, Music The Eagles, one of the most successful and longest-running acts in the history of popular music, have announced the first of what they say are their “final” tour dates. After 52 years, more than a thousand concerts and over 150 million albums sold, the group has announced the initial 13 dates of their final farewell tour, beginning on Sept. 7 in New York, with more to be added. According to the announcement, the Eagles — Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit, with Vince Gill and Deacon Frey — will perform “as many shows in each market as their audience demands.” The tour is expected to continue into 2025. 

Taylor Swift has announced the addition of 14 new ‘Eras’ tour dates in the UK and EU –  with Paramore serving as support – with the shows now seemingly ruling her out as a potential Glastonbury headliner.The new dates include additional shows in Paris, Sweden, Portugal, Lyon, Edinburgh, Liverpool, London, Dublin, Amsterdam, Milan, Gelsenkirchen, Poland and Austria.The three dates at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium fall on the same weekend as Glastonbury 2024, ruling out the possibility of the pop icon headlining the iconic music festival in Somerset.Swift was recently linked to being one of the two female headliners booked for next year’s edition of the festival due to the previous gaps in her touring schedule that coincided with the 2024 festival dates.Really can’t contain my excitement because… we’re adding 14 new shows to The Eras Tour. Pearl Jam‘s Jeff Ament has given an update on the band’s new album, saying it “doesn’t feel like a record yet”.Guitarist Stone Gossard confirmed in an interview last March that work had begun on the follow-up to 2020’s ‘Gigaton’ and that Andrew Watt, who has previously worked with Justin Bieber, is behind the production desk this time around.While Gossard said they were going to try and finish the record “pretty soon,” Ament has revealed in a new interview that there’s still a way to go on the new LP.“The hardest part of [finishing] a record a lot of times is figuring out which songs go on the record and do we need to record another song and what’s the artwork and what’s the title and all that stuff,” he said, revealing that the band are taking the summer off.“Come September, we’re still gonna pick up those questions we have about where we’re at and we’re gonna ask those questions again,” he added.“I think everybody hopes that we have a record out next year. If we have a record out next year, that means we’ll probably play a few more shows, and I think there’s a couple places we haven’t played in quite a while, so I think we have stuff penciled in.”Of the band’s legacy and what it affords them when making new music, Ament added: “We’ve earned the right to sort of [do whatever we want], and that’s tough because there are five of us pulling the cart.“Sometimes you end up pulling the cart in opposite directions.

Ethan Shanfeld Holly Humberstone, the pop singer-songwriter behind “Falling Asleep at the Wheel” and “The Walls Are Way Too Thin,” has officially announced her debut album, “Paint My Bedroom Black,” out Oct. 13 via Darkroom, Geffen and Polydor Records. This week, the British-born artist also unveiled the album’s first two singles, the stirring breakup ballad “Antichrist” and acoustic guitar-driven love song “Room Service.” Humberstone will perform the album for the first time in the U.S. at Los Angeles’ Fonda Theatre on Aug. 11, and she’ll also appear at Lollapalooza, Outside Lands and Osheaga Music and Arts Festival this summer. “This album is an exploration of the two sides of myself that coexist,” Humberstone said in a statement. “One side, the introvert who wants to board the windows up and shut the world out, writing about wanting to escape my surroundings and the confusion of life on the road last year. The other side of me, the extrovert, writing about a budding relationship, deep connections and love.”

Sonic Youth have announced the release of a live album from their final North American show that took place in New York City.The album titled ‘Live in Brooklyn 2011’ captures Sonic Youth’s full 17-song set from their August 2011 show at the Williamsburg Waterfront in Brooklyn. The New York natives played in front of the Manhattan skyline after Kurt Vile and Wild Flag served as openers.Sonic Youth’s final hometown show was released during COVID lockdown on Bandcamp but is now getting a proper release as a remixed and remastered live album.“The stage was facing the East River from the Williamsburg, Brooklyn, waterfront, and I recall the sun going down in the west during our set,” Lee Ranaldo, the band’s guitarist, said of the concert in a statement.

Taylor Swift has devastated Kiwi fans after she appeared to confirm she will not be taking her Eras Tour to New Zealand. The pop superstar announced she will play three nights at Sydney's Accor Stadium and two at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia on Wednesday morning, but made no mention of the neighbouring country.  Some fans have speculated the reason she's decided not to tour the country is simply because there isn't a stadium big enough for her massive production.
