Barcelona president Joan Laporta has once again reiterated that the club might be forced to sell one of its key players this summer amid Manchester United's interest in Frenkie de Jong.
The Spanish club is under increasing financial pressure and could be left with no choice but to offload some of their most sellable assets this summer. De Jong is considered one of their star attractions, but is less integral to the Blaugrana than he was due to the emergence of La Masia graduates Pedri and Gavi, and speculation concerning his future at the Camp Nou is continuing to mount.
United are big admirers of De Jong and have been tracking him for more than a month. They have not yet submitted a formal offer for him but there is a growing feeling that a deal could come to fruition.

United manager Erik ten Hag, who worked with De Jong at Ajax, is desperate to strengthen the club's midfield options this summer and the 25-year-old is understood to be at the top of his wish list. Ten Hag is understood to have reached out to the midfielder's agent in a bid to try and convince him to move to Old Trafford.
But although Barcelona, understandably, will hold out for the best possible price for the Netherlands international, Laporta has admitted that the club is prepared to sell one of its star attractions with a view to it helping their financial status. Barca signed De Jong for £65million in 2019.
