Fans of the Barbie movie have been left outraged and demanding 'justice' for its main actress after the nominations for the 2024 Oscars were announced today (January 23). The nominees for the 96th Academy Awards were revealed this afternoon, ahead of the ceremony taking place in Los Angeles in early March.
The Oscars, which began in 1929, recognises excellence in cinematic achievements with winners chosen from 24 categories, including best picture, actor, directing and original screenplay. This year's awards will be fronted by comedian Jimmy Kimmel, who will be hosting proceedings for the fourth time.
For the first time in two decades, Brits can follow along with all the drama for free on TV. The ceremony itself will be broadcast live from Los Angeles's Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood on Sunday March 10 via ITV1 and ITVX as well as STV and STV Player.

Ahead of the ceremony in March, Tuesday's nomination reveal caused disappointment amongst Barbie fans after Margot Robbie, who plays the leading role, and director Greta Gerwig, who has been praised for her film adaptation of the beloved doll, were 'snubbed'.
Greta missed out on a best director nomination and Margot didn’t make the cut for best actress. Meanwhile Ryan Gosling, who played Ken, was nominated in the best supporting actor category.
The film itself landed eight nominations overall, including best picture and best costume. Fans have since taken to X to react to the nominees as they demanded 'justice' for Margot Robbie.
