The British Academy has named Krishnendu Majumdar as its new chair, with the award-winning TV producer becoming the first person of color to be appointed to the role in BAFTA’s 73-year history and its youngest chair in 35 years. Majumdar, who has been deputy chair for one year, is due to remain as chair for the next three years — the newly extended term for all future BAFTA chairs.

Originally scheduled for the spring, both ceremonies were postponed due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, but BAFTA has now confirmed that the TV craft awards will be held July 17 and the main TV awards will take place July 31.
