After huge success on its first outing in 2020, HOME’s biennial Manchester Open Exhibition is back and bigger than before.
A celebration of creative talent across Greater Manchester, this year’s Manchester Open features over 400 pieces of artwork, across a range of mediums, at the contemporary arts centre.
A phenomenal number of 2,271 entries were submitted from Greater Manchester residents of all backgrounds and experiences, with the final number selected by a curator panel of art experts and community representatives.
Supported by The Oglesby Charitable Trust and Cass Art, the Manchester Open 2022 will take place from Monday, January 24 to Sunday, March 27.
The exhibition was also recently the recipient of a Manchester Culture Award 2022.

Launched in 2020, the first Manchester Open was the most successful exhibition in HOME’s history, visited by over 33,000 people.
It was the first region-wide exhibition of its kind to welcome entries from people of all backgrounds and experience levels - from established professionals and enthusiastic amateurs, to emerging talent and first-time artists.
Despite challenges presented by the pandemic, this year’s exhibition received a record number of entries, with 2,271 artworks submitted from creatives from across the region - including Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, and Wigan.
The final showcase of over 400 works covers a multidisciplinary range of mediums, such as paintings, prints, photography, sculpture, digital, mixed media, video, audio, spoken word, performance and much more.
