Avanti West Coast confirms amended timetables amid RMT train strikes

Passengers have been warned ahead of train strikes later this month.
Avanti West Coast has now confirmed revised timetables following the latest RMT union strikes. The strike action impacts several train operating companies and will take place on Thursday 20 July, Saturday 22 July and Saturday 29 July.
Currently, 14 train companies nationwide will operate a reduced schedule on the latter in response to the coordinated RMT train company strike. The strikes come after workers have been expressing their concerns for over a year concerning low pay and conditions in the workplace.

Avanti has confirmed that one train will be operating per hour on the strike days with trains from Manchester starting at 07:55 am up until 15:55 pm. Due to the amended timetables, Avanti West Coast will not operate in areas across the UK such as Chester, Blackpool, Macclesfield, Stoke on Trent and Edinburgh.

"RMT members go on strike in a week that sees the start of the school holidays, as well as The Open Championship at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club and the fourth test match in The Ashes at Old Trafford.
“With planned upgrade work taking place during this latest action, we’ll be operating a reduced timetable, so all our customers should plan ahead, check before they travel and be aware of their last train home.
