A train operator has issued a warning to passengers to check services before they travel over planned rail strikes on Saturday.
Industrial action is due to be taken by members of the RMT union at 14 train operating companies in total. The dispute is part of a long-running row over jobs, pay and conditions.
Avanti West Coast, which runs trains between Manchester Piccadilly and London Euston, said it would be operating a reduced service and warned trains that do run would be busier than they normally area. Services, added the operator, would be disrupted throughout the day.

"With limited operating hours and fewer services running, customers are advised to plan ahead, check before they travel, and be aware of their last train home.
"Customers with tickets for 29 July (purchased before 22 June) can claim a full fee-free refund from their point of purchase. Alternatively, tickets dated 29 July can be used the day before or up to and including 1 August."
Andy Mellors, managing director at Avanti West Coast, said: "We're sorry our customers will have their journeys disrupted for another day this month because of this latest strike action. It will no doubt affect many
