Tonight’s the big night for production design pros. The 28th annual Art Directors Guild Awards for film, TV and theaters are being handed out at Ovation Hollywood’s Ray Dolby Ballroom, and Deadline is updating the winners live as they are announced. See the winners list below, followed by the remaining nominees
The guild divides its top film prizes into Fantasy, Period and Contemporary Feature categories. Since the trophy show launched in 1996, the winner of one of those has gone on to win the Art Direction/Production Design Oscar in 18 of the 27 years. It had a run of nine in a row snapped last year, when All Quiet on the Western Front went on to score the Academy Award after the Art Directors lauded Everything Everywhere All at Once (Fantasy), Babylon (Period) and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (Contemporary).
The Morning Show director and producer and two-time ER Emmy winner Mimi Leder will receive ADG’s 2024 Cinematic Imagery Award, and the group is presenting a quartet of career honors to David Lowery, Greg Papalia, Wynn P. Thomas and Francine West.
The late production designer Lawrence G. Paull, a Blade Runner Oscar nominee whose credits also include Back to the Future and Romancing the Stone, will be inducted into the ADG Hall of Fame during the ceremony.
Established in 1937, the Art Directors Guild — IATSE Local 800 — represents 3,300 members who work in film, TV and theater as production designers and art directors; scenic, title and graphic artists; set designers and model makers; illustrators and matte artists.

Selome Hailu Following the ups and downs that the Screen Actors Guild faced in 2023 — namely, a 118-day strike and a subsequent deal with the AMPTP led by president Fran Drescher — the 2024 SAG Awards represent a much-needed opportunity for the actors union to celebrate. The double bill phenomenon affectionately known as “Barbenheimer” led this year’s film nominations with four each. “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” were both recognized for their ensembles, while the former received nods for lead female actor (Margot Robbie), supporting male actor (Ryan Gosling) and stunt ensemble while the latter was nominated for lead male actor (Cillian Murphy), supporting male actor (Robert Downey Jr.) and supporting female actor (Emily Blunt).
We’ve had the BAFTAs and the DGAs, but this weekend is a triple crown of awards shows. Tomorrow, the Independent Spirit Awards and the PGA Awards will hand out trophies back to back, but today? Today is for SAG, aka the actors.

Jazz Tangcay Artisans Editor “Barbie” and “Poor Things” led the 26th Costume Designers Guild Awards. In the excellence in period film category, Oscar nominee Holly Waddington won for her work on “Poor Things.” Jacqueline Durran, who is also an Oscar nominee, was recognized for her work on “Barbie,” winning the excellence in sci-fi/fantasy film award. In contemporary costume, “Saltburn’s” costume designer Sophie Canale won there.
The race for the Costume Design Academy Award is still up in the air, but no matter what happens, Holly Waddington and Jacqueline Duran will always have their 2024 Costume Designer Awards wins. The pair took Excellence in Period Film for “Poor Things” and Excellence in Sci-Fi/Fantasy Film for “Barbie,” respectively.

“Poor Things” may have taken home the BAFTA or Makeup and Hair on Sunday morning Los Angeles time, but “Maestro” showed its awards season strength later that evening at the 2024 Make-Up Artists and Hairstylists Guild Awards. The Bradley Cooper drama took both Best Period and/or Character Makeup and Best Special Makeup Effects giving it a potential nose, er, leg up on the Oscar for Best Makeup and Hairstyling which will be handed out on March 10.
