Apple Sets Adam McKay’s Hyperobject Industries In Multi-Year First Look Movie Deal

Amazon’s “The Lord of the Rings” TV series has finally received a premiere date from the streaming service. And though it’s more than a year away, fans now at least know the one date to rule them all.The yet-to-be titled big-budget show will debut Friday, Sept.

Producer Adam McKay (“Vice,” “Don’t Look Up“) and Searchlight Pictures had teamed for a new dark comedy “The Menu” that will be helmed by “Succession“s Mark Mylod with a cast that already includes Anya Taylor-Joy (“The Northman,” “The Witch,” “The Queen’s Gambit“), Oscar-nominee Ralph Fiennes (“No Time To Die,” “Schindler’s List“), and Hong Chau (“Downsizing,” “Inherent Vice,” “Watchmen,” “The Whale“).

Nicholas Hoult is set to join Anya Taylor-Joy and Ralph Fiennes in Searchlight’s dark comedy The Menu. Hong Chau is also on board. Mark Mylod, who has played a major part in the success of HBO’s Succession, will direct. Adam McKay will produce through his Hyperobject Industries banner along with Betsy Koch.

EXCLUSIVE: Producer Jessica Rhoades (Dirty John, Sharp Objects) is developing hourlong series Nice Jewish Girls for Netflix, created  by Anni Weisband (Astronomy Club).
