Ant Middleton has spoken out about his time in prison and noted how he will "fail until the day he dies".
Speaking on This Morning, the SAS: Who Dares Wins host spoke about how he was convicted of the unlawful wounding of one police officer and of common assault on another in 2013 - he was sentenced to 14 months. In 2015, Ant told the Mirror he was 'filled with remorse' over the incident.
While flogging his new book Mission Total Resilience on the show, Ant said his time in prison has been his 'biggest failure, but his biggest lesson.'
"Going to prison was my biggest failure, but my biggest learning curve," he said. "Why was I there? Talk about self-reflection, holding yourself accountable...
"It's not about passing the blame or batting it off as an excuse. You will get your most valuable lessons from failure."
Ant spoke frankly and said there was no magic cure to making mistakes. "I'll fail till the day I die, that's a fact. It's an everyday part of life, like breathing," he added.
"If you learn to acknowledge it and embrace it you'll see the valuable lessons that you can take from failure. I'm a father of five and if I'd have known what I know now, maybe I wouldn't have made the failures in my life."
Explaining that everything he talks about in his book stemmed from something he'd been through, Ant explained: "I don't get caught up with the destination - it's all about the journey".
The ex-soldier recalled how much he loved Australia where he's been presenting the country's version of SAS: Who Dares Wins. He was booted off the UK series over personal conduct.
