Fremantle bosses Jennifer Mullin and Andrea Scrosati have dissected the Angelina Jolie deal that is seeing the Oscar winner produce films, TV and docs over the next three years, with Scroasti saying “it was a bit of a risk in the initial phase.”
Delivering a rare keynote together at Mipcom Cannes, the CEO and Group COO said Jolie had been courted by several suitors when they were first meeting with her last year.
“She was looking for a producing partner and had plenty of opportunity with others,” said Mullin. “We met a couple of times when we were in the throes of COVID all over Zoom. She wants to tell ambitious and impactful stories and we can hit all the right notes and tones.”
Mullin added that Fremantle can “offer her the most flexibility,” while Scrosasti stressed the agnostic nature of the deal compared with streamer ‘golden handcuffs’ deals.
“With us, talent know we will focus on their projects and then together we will find the right home,” Scrosati went on to say. “Thjis means a bit of risk in the initial phase but I think this is the best job for a producer.”

The first to emerge from the project will be an adaptation of Alessandro Baricco’s international bestseller Without Blood, which went into production a week after the deal was struck.
In a wide-ranging Mipcom panel, the pair said they are on track to hit the ambitious €3B revenue targets set by parent RTL Group by 2025,

Fans were shocked six years ago when it was confirmed that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt had split after twelve years of together.
Brad Pitt opened up about how he dealt with life following his messy split from ex-wife Angelina Jolie. Pitt, 58, spoke about how his friendship with singer Nick Cave and sculptor Thomas Houseago bloomed in the wake of the divorce announcement. The "Bullet Train" actor first met Cave on set of "Johnny Suede" in 1991. Houseago was added to the trio in 2016 after Pitt met him at a New Year's Eve party.
divorce between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie has been an ongoing battle that has largely focused on the custody of the couple’s minor children, but another major area of conflict has been the Chateau Miraval Winery, which the couple owned together. An entirely separate legal battle is going on over the ownership of the winery, and now a letter written by Jolie to Pitt regarding the winery, and her desire to get rid of it, has surfaced online. The letter, dated January 21, 2021, was posted in full on TikTok and consists of Jolie explaining her feelings about the winery and her desire to be rid of it.

dragged into all this, with Pitt arguing that the Russian ties hurt the winery’s brand. Meanwhile, Jolie has filed a cross-complaint that accuses Pitt of domestic abuse on a 2016 flight. Brad Pitt will "respond in court" to Angelina Jolie's claims he was violent towards their kids. The 'Maleficent' actress claimed in legal documents earlier this week that her ex-husband had "choked" one of their children and "struck another in the face" during a flight from France to California in September 2016, and while the 'Bullet Train' star's attorney slammed the claims as a "personal attack" and insisted he hadn't been violent towards his brood, his team will seemingly use legal channels to clarify his version of events.
