American High Announces New Film Festival to Showcase High School Stories

Pearl Jam have announced a new set of dates for their upcoming North American tour, marking their first run of headline shows in the US and Canada since 2018 – find tickets here.Initially set to go down in 2020, before the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic spurred a slew of postponements, the tour will now start in San Diego on Tuesday May 3. They’ll wrap that week up with two shows in Los Angeles, before hitting stages in Glendale, Oakland, Fresno, Sacramento and Las Vegas over the next fortnight.After breaking for a slate of shows in Europe and the UK, Pearl Jam’s North American run will continue in September, kicking back off with a gig in Quebec and three in Ontario at the top end of the month.

Bob Dylan is set to release a collection of more than 60 essays in a new book, The Philosophy Of Modern Song, which is set to be released on November 8 via Simon & Schuster.According to a press release, Dylan began work on The Philosophy Of Modern Song in 2010. The book will compile dozens of essays that the folk legend wrote about songs by other musicians, including Nina Simone, Elvis Costello and Hank Williams.“[Dylan] analyses what he calls the trap of easy rhymes, breaks down how the addition of a single syllable can diminish a song, and even explains how bluegrass relates to heavy metal,” the press release reads.

PC Music have announced details of their new ‘Vol. 3’ compilation, featuring Charli XCX, Clairo and Caroline Polachek among others.Arriving nearly six years after the label’s ‘Vol. 2’ compilation, the new record will come out on May 13.The following month, PC Music will host a special label showcase at the newly reopened KOKO venue in London.Others included on the album are Hannah Diamond, Tommy Cash, A.G.

Eugene Hernandez has been promoted to the new role of SVP of Film at Lincoln Center (FLC) and Executive Director of the New York Film Festival (NYFF), and Dennis Lim has been upped to the NYFF’s first-ever Artistic Director, newly promoted President, Lesli Klainberg, announced on Friday. Hernandez will also continue to lead FLC’s strategic initiatives, including his role as publisher of Film Comment.This year will mark the 60th anniversary of NYFF, and the festival will run from Sept. 30 to Oct.
