His latest strike came off the bench to grab a winner against Crewe Alexandra before the international break, a role which he has excelled at this season and scored some important goals.
As well as the strike against Crewe, goals against AFC Wimbledon and Lincoln City have also come off the bench, as has the late leveller on the road against Morecambe at the start of February.
His strike rate this campaign is now his best in front of goal, eclipsing the 10 he scored in the 2016/17 season at Walsall.
Bakayoko believes he is much more than a super sub, though, and with the competition now in the final third including Dion Charles and Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, it is helping to keep the attacking players on their toes.
