All Creatures Great and Small actress Rachel Shenton has revealed that she was “thrilled” to spend more time on set with fellow co-star Patricia Hodge while filming the Channel 5 show. Rachel, 35, who plays Helen Herriot on the show, has opened up about her friendship with Patricia, who plays Mrs Pumphrey, and called it “a pleasure” to film more scenes with the actress.
“I am thrilled because I have not really had too many scenes, certainly not one-on-one with Patricia,” she told express.co.uk. “So that was a pleasure and it was just sort of a moment of, the female alliance without giving too much of the story away, those two women knew what that feeling was in that moment.” Rachel also gushed over her co-star’s knowledge and added that she was “good fun” to work with while on set for the show’s fourth series which kicked off on Channel 5 earlier this month.
“It is just a pleasure working with Patricia, she really knows her stuff and she is really great to work with and good fun,” she added. As viewers head to the Yorkshire Dales for the latest series of the show, the shadow of war looms over Skeldale House and Rachel’s character Helen’s thoughts are turning to the next stage of her life alongside her husband James.
“It’s the 1940s, so that’s the trajectory of a relationship at the time if you’re recently married,” Rachel said prior to the show’s launch. “But there is a real sense of what’s happening in the wider world.
The reality is that James could be called up and Helen could be left by herself with a baby.
