Actor Ryan Hawley will return to our TV screens in All Creatures Great and Small, three years after he quit Emmerdale. The TV series based on the books will continue tonight (Thursday, 26 October) where Ryan, 38 will make his debut as Sid Crabtree. But some viewers may recognise the actor who played the role of Robert Sugden in Emmerdale for five years.
Ryan joined the long-running ITV soap back in 2014 and was caught up in some rather dramatic storylines before he quit in 2019 after his character murdered rapist Lee. But three years later the actor has secured the role of farmer Sis in Channel 5's All Creatures Great And Small. But what has Ryan been up to since leaving Emmerdale and what else has he been in? Let's take a closer look...
Who is Ryan Hawley? The 38 year old is an English actor who was born in the UAE. He has been married to Daisy Prestes de Oliviera since 2013. Although the couple are intensely private, it was recently revealed in March 2021 that they had welcomed a child together.
Speaking to Digital Spy, his former co-star Isobel Steele, who was his on-screen sister-in-law Liv Flaherty, shared the news and said: "We do miss Ryan a lot. We were really close when we filmed together. "When you're filming every day, you become really good friends.
"We do miss that dynamic and I know that the fans do as well. "Hopefully they convince him to come back! He's just had a baby, so I don't know how soon he'd be coming back, so fingers crossed." Other TV roles Before Emmerdale, Ryan had a number of TV roles and made his debut in 2007 during the pilot of the US series Life Is Wild where he played the character Tim. In 2013, he went on to appear as Andy Thatcher in a Russian-British horror film called Devil's Pass.
